It is possible the perpetrators intentionally left some incriminating material to divert FBI attention, making it easier for additional terrorists to leave the country or carry out further operations.

exactly. this is playing out more and more like a tom clancy novel. these teams manage to elude all the agencies and stay under the radar. despite being on ‘watch lists’, they enter the country. the assistance and communication between them all goes unnoticed and raises no red flags.

then at the end, they start leaving paper trails for plane tickets, rental cars (that they leave parked with flight manuals and prayer books!), etc.. it’s a little obvious, no?
