a bunch of idiots

this depresses me. how can these people call themselves americans, when they do the unthinkable?

i can’t believe this happened in san francisco!

these people are at the same level as the people responsible for last week. they are not americans, they’re not even human.

getting the photo of a lifetime

photographer tom franklin explains how he shot ‘the photo’ of the fireman raising the flag. (as seen in newsweek)

franklin: ‘As soon as I shot it, I realized the similarity to the famous image of Marines raising the flag at Iwo Jima.’

what’s for dinner?: VP cheney lets it flow

in one of the best interviews for ‘meet the press’, i’ve ever seen. VP dick cheney talks very candidly and for the first time about the events of 11th sept., the future and ‘the full wrath of the united states’.

discussing Osama bin Ladin…

MR. RUSSERT: You wouldnt mind having his head on a platter?

VICE PRES. CHENEY: I would take it today.

for some reason i’m reminded of WWF. where the reporter interviews the wrester before he’s about to fight (hey, why don’t we send jesse ventura after Osama?). i wish i could’ve seen the interview, but the transcript is great enough. go read now.

now that i’m thinking about it.

i was getting the most up-to-date information of the tragedy from personal/community websites rather than the bloated corp sites. and the most striking images were coming from individuals (some in the WTC, evacuating at the time) with digital cameras and posting them to the web immediately after. the speed and power of personal publishing was never more evident than this week.

good reads

An Afghan-American speaks – by Tamin Ansary

‘You can’t bomb us back into the Stone Age. We’re already there. But you can start a new world war, and that’s exactly what Osama bin Laden wants.’

first hand account: he is pakistani, he is a muslim, he works in the WTC, his name is Usman Farman and he was inside when it happened.

think tasteless

in the words of the fictitious character ‘greed never sleeps’

micro$oft owned Corbis ‘joins the world in shock and mourning over the tragic events of September 11 and its repercussions around the USA and the world.’

meanwhile, the same day of the tragedy, they send  this crap.

hijacking clues may be red herrings

article from strafor.com.

The terrorist cells demonstrated incredible sophistication and coordination in preparing and executing the attacks, but they left an astonishing amount of clues in their wake — some that may lead to accomplices still operating in the United States. It is possible the perpetrators intentionally left some incriminating material to divert FBI attention, making it easier for additional terrorists to leave the country or carry out further operations.

exactly. this is playing out more and more like a tom clancy novel. these teams manage to elude all the agencies and stay under the radar. despite being on ‘watch lists’, they enter the country. the assistance and communication between them all goes unnoticed and raises no red flags.

then at the end, they start leaving paper trails for plane tickets, rental cars (that they leave parked with flight manuals and prayer books!), etc.. it’s a little obvious, no?
