friday five: television edition
1. What’s your favorite TV show and why?
‘24′ is my current favorite show. why? because television is too episodic, it looks for closure before the credits end. ‘24′ is nothing but cliffhangers. every time i see the clock that ticks XX:59:XX at the end of the show, i say ‘no!’. i’m so easy to manipulate.
2. Who is your favorite television star?
too many to name, sarah jessica parker in ’sex in the city’ is always up there. and i seem to like rob lowe’s character/performance in ‘the west wing’. i must also mention that jerry orbach as detective lenny brisco in ‘law and order’ has been on the list forever.
3. What was your favorite TV show as a child?
when i was really young, ‘twilight zone’, then i think ‘family ties’ both shows were total fantasies compared to my life.
4. What show do you think should have been cancelled by now?
well, someone read my mind and killed ‘ally mcbeal’. my next choice would be ‘real world’
5. What new show do you hope escapes the axe this season?
‘andy richter controls the universe’. it’s offbeat enough for milk-white sucka execs to pull the plug on it before they realize how smart it is.
