i can now sleep

mariahbeautystill.jpg

just finished my last project. we sent it via satellite monday morning for mtv’s ‘making the video’ premiere.

the trl premiere. happened on tuesday. it’s getting some good feedback and people are digging the visuals.

director joseph kahn’s concept is quite different from mariah carey’s previous videos. it has wall to wall visual effects (over 100) that include a bunch of cgi. all the visual effects were done in 7 days (the tightest schedule i’ve done in a long time). not much sleep for me last week.

check it out when you can and let me know what you think.

I think it looks like “Doesn’t really matter” by Janet from the same director.
I don’t like Mariah’s new look, I prefer the original version of the song but the video looks good.
What exactly did you do in this video ?

funny you should mention ‘doesn’t really matter’ by Miss Jackson. This is a tokyo-pop themed video that probably went a little further than the Janet vid. I hadn’t heard the original version of the track but I think the Cam’ron rap is ok in it.

as far as what i did, i was the visual effects supervisor for the video. i was at the shoot to supervise the photography of the visual effects elements (ie greenscreen, etc). after the shooting, i supervised the elements being assembled from the various houses.

It’s very hard to explain what i do for a living but basically i supervised the visual effects, making sure we get the best quality of shots in the given budget/schedule.
