i’m really enjoying my summer. i’ve been reading, travelling, taking pictures. i could get used to this vacation thing. the only drawback is that there’s a lot of free time to think about things both good and bad.
when i’m working on a job, it’s like stepping through a time machine and a wormhole . everything stands still, i get tunnel vision and i live in a bubble. by the time the job wraps, it’s several weeks/months later and i’m in a different place. unpaid bills are piled up, plants are dead, and i have to catch up on all the news of my family and friends.
everywhere i turn, friends are getting married and having children. these are good things. dealing with all the unresolved nonsense and problems that i put on hold for a job are the bad things. i don’t have the emotional bandwidth to deal with all of it.
i’ve tweaked the front page here a little bit. you’ll notice i’ve integrated my sidebar links inline with the rest of the weblog entries. for the new folks, sidebar links are links that are self-explanatory or require minimal commentary by yours truly. the sidebar links are grouped and laid out between weblog entries, sort of. i’m still working on the layout of them but for now, i got the whole top and bottom border with a little bid of padding of negative space around all of it.
